In January of 2008, a name change initiative with SHRM led to EMA changing it’s name to the Staffing Management Association of Greater Phoenix – SMA of Greater Phoenix.

The Arizona Region of the EMA – Employment Management Association was founded in 1990 to help better serve the educational and professional networking needs of Valley employment professionals and service providers. EMA was a Professional Interest Group of SHRM until 2004. At that time, SHRM made the decision to roll all members of EMA into its general membership, providing all of the same resources to every member of the national organization at no additional cost. This means membership is free to SHRM members.
